Välborna Fru - Ærede fru

Dictionary - Swedish/English - Genealogy term

I got an enquiry from Australia by email:-

Recently I received copy of an English newspaper item from 1936 advising the forthcoming marriage between an English man and a Danish lady who is stated to be the youngest daughter of the late Dr. D.C.B.Howitz and of the Vàlborna Fru Howitz, of Copenhagen. These 2 highlighted words are what I'm unable to find a meaning for but am wondering if it could merely be "widow".

I replied -
please post a scan of the article on your web site

answer today:-
Am attaching copy of item from The Times (digital archives) of 20 August 1936, showing full text.

These clowns do not realise by going public their relatives may find them - in this case from Sweden although resident in Copenhagen

when I saw the clipping from the Times digital archive
Fröken had the correct umlaut
Google Search: Fröken took me to sweden because the swedes use umlaut, like the germans, for their extended alphabet with 8 vowells

Continuing Google Search: välborne

the sixth hit

NN (titeln "Herr" måste alltid utsättas efter prefixet "välborne"). ...

Military Academy Karlberg - Swedish Armed Forces, Military Academy Karlberg /:
"The Military Academy trains cadets for a period of one year. After that they go to different branch schools for another year. Finally they come back to Karlberg to get their officer's rank.
The academy also trains officers from the Navy to become Lieutenants."

King Gustav III decided that Karlberg (built in 1638 by a son of King Karl IX) should be used as a military academy. Therefore the castle was rebuilt and the large wings on either side of the castle were built. They were completed in 1796

AND the final answer to - Välborna Fru Howitz - is - the Honourable Mrs Howitz - because her late husband was a swedish academic, or medical?, doctor.

Google Search: Ærede fru - - is the danish form which is why I did not know the answer off the top of my head, and that is how I teach myself genealogy, and languages - also using google as the BIG library catalogue.
