About AGRA

About AGRA: "The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA) was founded to maintain and promote high standards of professional conduct in the field of genealogy and the reporting of historical research. Although originally its members were all involved in the profession of genealogy, in recent years applications for membership have been accepted from those engaged in other research disciplines. AGRA welcomes as members all those who can attain these standards and wish to promote this ideal by joining an association that is recognised for its integrity and expertise.

The Association, formerly known as the Association of Genealogists and Record Agents, was founded in 1968 and incorporated as a limited company in April 1998. In July 2001 the name was changed to The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives to reflect more accurately the nature and scope of the members’ work, experience and knowledge."
